Can the Prophet be EXCOMMUNICATED? (D&C 107:82-84)

Can the Prophet be EXCOMMUNICATED?
(D&C 107:82-84)

82 And inasmuch as a President of the High Priesthood shall transgress, he shall be had in remembrance before the common council of the church, who shall be assisted by twelve counselors of the High Priesthood; 83 And their decision upon his head shall be an end of controversy concerning him.
84 Thus, NONE shall be exempted from the justice and the laws of God, that all things may be done in order and in solemnity before him, according to truth and righteousness. (D&C 107:82-84)

AVERAGE JOE CHURCH MAINSTREAM MORMON CANNOT BELIEVE THIS COULD HAPPEN:

Why would God include his Prophet?
I thought the prophet was Infallible?
I thought that God would take his life to protect the church?
Why would the Lord have a prophet who could TRANSGRESS?

The Lord Will NOT Acknowledge Traitors or Apostates.

"I testify again, as the Lord lives, God never will acknowledge any traitors or apostates."
 (Joseph Smith, TPJS page 375)

"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I (Jesus) profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
(Matthew 7:22-23)

Brigham Young:

"And if He (The LORD) should suffer him (Joseph Smith) to lead the people astray, it would be because they ought to be led astray.
If He should suffer them to be chastised, and some of them destroyed,
it would be because they deserved it."

     (
President Brigham Young J.D. 4:297-298)

What did Joseph Smith say about Following the Prophet?

that they (Church Members) were Depending on the prophet, hence were Darkened in their minds.”
(Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith Page 237-38.)
